How to use the converter
Your own time zone is filled in for you. Use Add city to compare up to six places, then drag the timeline (or use the arrow keys) to pick any time of day. Every row shows that place's local time, its date, and a strip of its day, so you can see at a glance whether it is morning, working hours or the middle of the night there. Copy link gives you a link to exactly this comparison, which is handy for proposing a meeting time.
What UTC and GMT mean
Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) is the reference every time zone is measured from. New York in winter is UTC−5, which means its clocks are five hours behind UTC; Tokyo is UTC+9, nine hours ahead. Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) shows the same time as UTC, but it is a time zone used in places like the United Kingdom in winter, while UTC is a standard that never changes.
Daylight saving time
Many countries move their clocks forward one hour in spring and back in autumn. The changes do not happen on the same day everywhere, so the difference between two cities can shift for a few weeks each year. TimezoneHop applies every rule automatically. See the daylight saving dates for every country.
